Biography

Dr. Wilkinson brings a wealth of experience caring for warriors and athletes from his time serving in the United States Navy and Orthopedic Sports Medicine training. During his fellowship at Houston Methodist, he cared for weekend warriors and recreational athletes in addition to the elite athletes at NASA, Houston Rodeo, Rice University, the Houston Texans and the World Champion Houston Astros. Dr. Wilkinson will devote his practice to the care of sports injuries of the shoulder, elbow, knee, and ankle in addition to providing sideline and event coverage of athletic events across our community.

Dr. Wilkinson graduated with honors from Texas A&M University with a Bachelor of Science and then Doctor of Medicine. During medical school, he joined the United States Navy to become a Flight surgeon and was commissioned as a Lieutenant upon graduation. He then completed a Transitional Year internship at Naval Medical Center San Diego and Flight Surgery training at the Naval Aerospace Medicine Institute in Florida. During his time in the military, he cared for new Marine Corps recruits at MCRD and then a Marine Corps Osprey squadron while he was a flight surgeon at Marine Corps Air Station Miramar in California. He also served as the Air Combat Element Medical Officer while deployed with the 15th Marine Expeditionary Unit. After the military, he completed his orthopedic surgery residency at the University of Alabama at Birmingham and then completed further specialized training in Orthopedic Sports Medicine through his fellowship with Houston Methodist in Houston, Texas.
