Victor S. Reis, MD

Biography

DHR Health is pleased to welcome Dr. Victor S. Reis to its esteemed team of physicians. Board-certified by the American Board of Thoracic Surgery and fellowship-trained, Dr. Reis is a Cardiothoracic Surgeon specializing in the surgical management of the heart, lungs, and other chest structures. His expertise includes restoring blood flow to the heart muscles, repairing heart valves, and performing surgeries for various cancers of the chest, including lung cancer, which is the leading cause of cancer death in the United States.

Raised in Brownsville, Dr. Reis is fluent in both English and Spanish. He credits his father, Dr. Marcos Reis, a longtime internal medicine physician in Brownsville, as his role model and mentor while on his path to becoming a surgeon. After graduating with high honors from the University of Texas San Antonio, Dr. Reis attended medical school at the Texas Tech University Health Science Center School of Medicine, graduating in 2011. He completed his residency in General Surgery at Lehigh Valley Hospital Network in Allentown, Pennsylvania, before furthering his training with a dedicated fellowship in Thoracic Surgery at Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami, Florida. Prior to joining DHR Health, Dr. Reis worked as a Cardiothoracic Surgeon at Hendrick Medical Center in Abilene, Texas.
