Saroja Viswamitra, MD

Biography

Having received her training in Cincinnati, Ohio, Dr. Saroja Viswamitra brings with her vast knowledge and experience in the field of physical medicine and rehabilitation. Having practiced for over 23 years in the Rio Grande Valley, Dr. Viswamitra has been an integral part in the development of rehabilitation programs throughout Hidalgo County.

Dr. Viswamitra has served as the DHR Health Rehabilitation Hospital’s medical director since DHR Health opened its doors in December of 2005. She led the CARF accreditation survey for DHR Health Rehabilitation Hospital successfully for two consecutive certification periods in the areas of General Rehabilitation, Pediatrics, and Stroke Rehab. She continues to excel in expanding rehabilitation services in other areas and is currently assisting in the development of a Spinal Cord Injury and Amputee program.

Dr. Saroja Viswamitra actively participates in educating the Rio Grande Valley community and hosts annual support groups and assists with caregivers’ needs and education.
