Biography
Noel E. Oliveira, M.D., CWSP, Director of DHR Health Wound Care Center. Dr. Oliveira was born and raised in the Rio Grande Valley. He left the valley to pursue his education in Pharmacy at the University of Texas, Austin where he was named Outstanding Graduate of his class and also served as Student Council President for the College of Pharmacy. Dr. Oliveira then went on to attend The University of Texas Medical Branch in Galveston where he received his Medical Doctorate while working as a pharmacist. After completing his residency, Dr. Oliveira returned to the Rio Grande Valley to serve his community. He became the Director of Trauma and Emergency Medicine at Rio Grande Regional Hospital.
Dr. Oliveira has dedicated the last 30 years’ of his career to Wound Care and is currently certified in CWSP, BLS, ACLS, ATLS and Stop the Bleed. He was a pioneer and the first to open a Full Service Wound Care Center in the Rio Grande Valley and is currently Medical Director of the Wound Care Center at DHR Health. At DHR Health he serves as Chairman for the Continuing Medical Education and the Environment of Care Committees. He has also been asked and serves as the Chairman for the Subcommittee on Accreditation for the Texas Medical Association. Dr. Oliveira has also served on the Board of Trustees for the Sharyland ISD for over 15 years. Dr. Oliveira was recognized in 2019 by the Sharlyland ISD and named Sharyland Pioneer High School Stadium in his honor.
Dr. Oliveira has appeared on an episode of the hit TV show E.R. and assisted in the writing of an episode that entailed Hyperbaric Oxygen Therapy. He has been onsite as a Trauma Physicians for the F.B.I. Swat Team of McAllen, Texas and has also served as a team physician for High School, College and Professional Football, Basketball, Hockey, Soccer, Rugby and W.W.E. Wrestling.
For fun, Dr. Oliveira has been Scuba Diving in 3 different countries and is a part of the Renaissance Rockers as a singer and guitarist. The Renaissance Rockers have assisted in raising over a million dollars in the Rio Grande Valley. His greatest accomplishment is over 30 years of marriage to his childhood sweetheart and his two wonderful children!
